More Aquarium

We had so much fun at the Aquarium in Newport. It had so many touch tanks for kids, they loved petting the baby sharks, baby rays, and many different sea creatures. They also had tunnels that you walked through and could see the sharks, manta rays, etc swim around you. We just happened to be there when the scuba divers were cleaning the tank. They said they have a pool of about 140 scuba volunteers from all over Oregon, and surrounding states that clean the tanks. About two to three volunteers come in about every 3 weeks to do their part to keep the slime off the walls.

Camping "Texas Style".... ummm... No thanks.

As we were pulling into South Beach Campground in Newport, OR, we were very surprised at the "campers" pulling in ahead of us. Of course we needed to take a picture so we could write a blog about the people who camped in their stretch limo. As I was taking a picture the passenger climbed out, I was expecting sophisticated, well dressed with all brand new camping clothes from REI and instead got a flash back to 1985. Mr. Mullet Man with his Bermudas (not new style) and his camo jacket climbed out of his limo and when I questioned if they were "camping" in the limo he proceeded to tell me that this is how they camp in Texas (glad we are not from Texas). The story goes on... First thing the next morning as Aaron was walking to the bathroom and as he passed Mr. Mullet Man and his shiny new limo he noticed a rather large lump on the picnic table that greatly resembled a person under a blanket... hmmm? On his way back he passed Mr. Mullet Man who was on his way to the bathroom and oddly enough the lump on the picnic table was gone.

The beach to ourselves.

We asked someone for a good beach to find sand dollars and they told us to come to this beach... I can't remember the name... Anyway, it was a beautiful beach and we were the only ones here. We spent about 2-3 hours walking miles up and down the beach, flying kites, running from waves, beach combing, etc. It was beautiful.

July 22, Tide walk on Sunset Beach.

Here we are on a tide walk. We were able to explore many tide pools with lots of different sea creatures. One of our favorites were the crabs... do not be alarmed folks... the crabs were all dead. (No children were harmed in the taking of these pictures) There were thousands of dead crabs washed up on the shore so we decided to take a crab head picture of everyone.
