On December 1, 2008 Ava turned 5 years old!!! Wow, time sure flies. She was so happy that she was able to celebrate her birthday at gramma and grampa's house in Bozeman (since we were there for Thanksgiving). Ava celebrated with her cousin Liana, two Great Grandmas, uncles, aunts, great aunt and uncle, second cousin and a couple of uncle Taylor and uncle Jaron's friends.... what a great time. On Monday the 1st we had Audrey, Auntie Lisa and Auntie Aspen over for a spaghetti dinner and a fabulous cake!
I decided to experiment with fondant frosting for the first time. Aspen and I spent about 3-4 hours decorating this cake to get it just right. We had a great time and realized in the process that fondant tastes awful! Thats okay because we had frost the cake first so the fondant would stick. When it came time to eat we just peeled it off and enjoyed the yummy chocolate cake.
Ava is such a special little girl. She loves ballet and taking care of her baby brother and sister. She is such a joy to have in our lives and we learn something from her sweet little spirit everyday. We love you Ava, Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday Ava!
That cake looks amazing- and awful tasting, fondant is too pretty to taste as disgusting as it does:) Great job!

Happy Birthday Ava! You are one of the sweetest things. Watch out for Parks when you turn 16. And who's honest Abe helping with the cake?
You are right about fondant, yuk. It turned out really cool. I have been wanting to try it myself.
