We took off from Boise after Aaron got home from work on the 17th (Thursday) and drove to a little town called La Pine, OR about an hour north of Crater Lake. We stayed at a rest area because we pulled into town @ about 2-3 am. In the morning we got up and ate at this little restaurant called the Red Rooster Cafe. It was a local hangout for all... 4... of the older women in town. They had their little spot up at the counter which was convenient when the owner had to run home for something because when she did, Vivian, one of the locals took over serving our table. She was so nice, made sure our coffee mugs were always full, oohing and aahing at babies and kids... etc. It was special because it happened to be Hannah's 6th birthday so they brought her out a pancake with a candle and all the locals (by now it was full) sang Happy Birthday to her it was a great way to start off her birthday.
We stayed one night at Crater lake. I cooked my first dutch oven birthday cake... It was great! We shared with a group of teenagers camping next to us, they were there for three weeks maintaining trails.
Here we are at Crater Lake, it was beautiful!
We took many family bike rides during our trip.
Here is Aaron chatting up the locals!

I love that the locals got involved in wishing Hannah "Happy Birthday." I'm sure she will remember that birthday for a long time!! That is so precious!
